I Went To A Junkyard Today!
#1
So today a buddy of mine and myself went a junkyard about 20 mins away from the homestead. It was actually the first time that I'd been to one. It was freakin cool! Carbuerators just lying in the back of pick up trucks. Intakes just hanging off of rusted steel racks. Cars just chillin three cars high right there.
Went digging for RX-7 stuff. I found an 84 tranny (looked like it was in decent shape) and a 12A (definately a project engine). There were also two FCs. One an s5 vert, the other an s4 base. Unforutunately both were missing their engines, but they still had their brake fluid! Anyways, if anyone in So Cal needs anything like that, lemme know and I can either pick it up for you, or I can give you directions to the palace of wonders.

Junkyards are crazy! Its wierd too all those wrecked cars in one place. We went to one once and looked inside this SUV that had been totalled and the inside was all bloodstained kinda made me gag for a minute. You can find some decent deals at junkyards. Happy hunting.

Its in the Simi Valley/ Moorpark if you know where that is. Probably about 40-50 mins from Malibu. Depenending on where you live Repu you can take either the 101 or the 405 there. From the 101 its the 101 to the 23, to the 118 east. Then you get off at Collins road, the an offramp right before a big hill. You go strait from there and head down that road about a two miles and it will be on the right hand side.
From the 405 you take the 405 to the 118 west and then get off at Collins in Moorpark, make a left, and then make another left at the T intersection and go down that road until you see it. Really cool place and pretty orgainzed actually.

Oh yeah, they also have a recylcing center down the street from there where you can weigh your car. Mine is 2660 lbs. Pretty heavy for an FC no? I guess thats what I get for the luxury base model.

Being an FC, and AE86 owner I am a frequant visitor to my local junkyards. In fact one place knows me by name, and the owner calls me when he gets in cars I might be interested in.
One of my buddies came up with an idea that was so simple, it was amazing. Before he went lookign for a new car, he went to the junk yard and saw which ones faired in accidents the best. Being that we live in Seattle, there are even cars with dealier plates wrecked.
I have been lucky, I found a locking 6" long 3'8" drive craftsman extention in the back of an FC. And 4 working Logicons If you need one, let me know!
