i need to get a abandoned title for my motorcycle... the story goes my friends dad got this bike to fix it for his friend who was in college at the time. and he got it fixed but the guy didnt have the cash to pay him so he held on to the bike until he could but the guy never came back. it has now been bout 8-9 yrs and so the guy decided to sell it . it runs pretty good (needs a tune up BADLY) but i need to get some kind of title for it so i can drive it legally

 

btw if it matters at all its a 1981-83 yamaha 400 special

 

I dunno about FL, but in washington you go down apply for it, it costs like $20.00 then it takes like 15 days and they send a notice to the original owner, if he doesn't reply you get it.

 

in california after 4 years its not in the dmv computer anymore so you can bring it down and register it no problem
