I Need Nerd Backup!
#1
Bought a router today. Got internet sharing up, and my computer can access Krystal's shared folders. My folders are shared, but when she goes into My Network Places, all she gets is the router. No listing of shared folders. I can ping her computer. She can ping mine. We're using DHCP, have sequential IPs (I'm 100, she's 101) and everything looks good in the router. Windows firewall isnt disabled, but filesharing and diablo 2 are allowed to access the subnet. Speaking of Diablo 2, whenever we go to play a multiplayer game via TCP/IP, if I host she times out when she tries to connect, and if she hosts, I immediately get an error saying cannot connect to server. Like I said, both of our firewalls are set to allow the connections. Any suggestions? And I expect Dramon to post something along the lines of "NERD ALERT."

Do you have "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" enabled?
Network neighborood, then double click the network cards icon.
Might try running through the network wizard again as well, make sure you didn't miss something.

windows firewall is a bitch but the most common problems ive found (although you already figured it out) are windows firewall or av software, and not having printer/file sharing in the lan connection.... its great people call and theyre like "WHY WONT MY MODEM WORK WITH MY BROWSER???" and im like did you set the router to PPPoe and put the modem in bridge mode??? "no but i hit the reset button like 80 times" hahaha well then youve restored your modem to PPPoe factory settings nerd.
