I dont know what to tell you except that its a over the counter thing so there is no install labor, and that with a 2 year warranty im sure he is comfortable with the rebuild.



Im sure if you replaced every single part in the tranny it would probably cost more then the new one did. I guess the idea is to replace the bad parts and the parts you think will go bad next versus replacing every part you can find in the parts catalog.



I just put all new bearings in my TII rear end, the parts cost me $220 or so with the discounts, I know the price of parts can add up. I doubt I needed to replace all the bearings, but im a bit retarded like that, I guess Jim is the same way, lol

 

Well, I had some parts inside my tranny that were jacked up.



My 3rd, 4th and the overtop gear were shot. As well as a spattering of other parts. This is the tranny I got with the car and it was jacked the day I got it. I mean, the clutch was burnt up at 53K miles so that gives you an idea.



I am not done either when I drop the tranny I am getting the SRmotorsports 9.5# flywheel too.



I am sure you're guy does a good job, I mean damn, he is giving a 2 year warranty you cannot go wrong there.



You should know I overkill everything I do. The tranny that is being rebuilt will be better than a factory one. I am having all the gears chamfered and other good things done to the internals.

 

I bought one of those SR motorsports flywheels used and it was shot, ACT clutch was shot as well





thats what I get for buying that **** used when I kept telling myself I would NOT buy those parts used no matter what, lol

Guy claimed the parts had 4000 miles on them, if that is the case then they were VERY hard miles so I can see a tranny being shot at 53k miles



a friend of mine had Ford revoke his warranty after they did the 3rd tranny for him in 15k miles!

 

Contact SRmotorsports. They should be able to suppy you with a replacement frictoin ring.

 

friction ring is $149 plus shipping and I would still need the "hardware kit" as well as the counterweight



I bought it as a package because its like a $800 set up new, it didnt pay to piece it together with what the guy who sold it to me was willing to return me so I just opted for a full refund.



Think Ill get the ACT clutch new and use the stock flywheel for now, maybe change the flywheel next winter.

 

hey money was no object at one time...third motor, third turbo and exhaust sytem, 2nd ECU system blah blah...we alll have to count the experiments and the **** that breaks or we replace than we're talking serious money.

 

Rob - Do what you can to get that lightweight flywheel into the car. It is worth its weight in GOLD. It makes for an amazing transfromation of the car. One of my favorite mods that I did early on.

 

I cant tell you how money peolpe I told that too when ask what mod to do first.

That puts power down instead of swing a static 28 lbs!( I dont know what the dynamic spin weight is).

I was worried about the idle, I my theory was that I wanted to make sure the car was running good, then tweak it a bit.

 

I also liked that the SR one is rebuildable, but people who have purchased ones from them in the past, like the "blue" one tell me that you cant get a new friction disk for it anymore



so what happens if they decide to change suppliers again in a year, then the rebuildable flywheel becomes obsolete?
