I digress, I'm planning on spending no more than 5k on a car that will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and have 300bhp/tonne - nothing that special really, and anyone can do it.

It does happen sometimes. . but in most cases everyone wants to "Bulid a Corvette, on a Chevette budget"

As far as the cheap SR swap(and pretty much everything else)goes. .it just depends on your hook ups.

If you're really determined to prove him wrong, send him to zilvia.net, freshalloy.com, or some like 240 board. That damned question about cost comes up 15 times a day.

He can theoretically do it for less than $2K. Odds are against him though. It definately won't happen unless he installs it himself, as the labor runs anywhere from $850-1500 depending on some variables.

If he's convinced that he can do it under $2K then tell him to shut up and do it. Until he does anything it's just talk.
