Guess I'm the odd one out...

Been listening to punk since I was 13...I'm 25 now and still listening to it...I ******' HATE techno...No offense.

I like classic (70's) when I'm drunk though...it just goes good when your trashed.

I have always listened to Hard Rock/Heavy Metal but old heavy metal. I am going to age myself here but I still love Iron maiden, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue prior to Theater of pain, Venom, and some other 70's and 80's rock like Saxon, Dokken, Judas Priest and such.

The newer "Heavy Metal" all sounds the same. The singers scream unrecognizable words and the guitar and beat is all the same. I don't get into that at all.

But I have kind of changed mainly because of a friend of mine, there is some rap and hip hop that I like to listen to more for the beat than anything else. He is big into techno, house music, rap, hip hop so I have kinda gotten into it just from hanging out with him.

I can't stand nor will I ever listen to Country and/or Western.

I also hate the thumping bass. If I can hear it like that outside the car what can be heard and is intelligible inside the car.

I will listen to anything. I dislike country for the most part but like any other style of music of you dismiss it entirely you will miss out on some amazing talent.

Didn't the 80's give us bans like the sex pistols and the smiths? Alternative was just taking off in the 80's and it was a fun time to be into it. We had a local college station that played all alternative. I loved it at the time, still like it. But back then I was living the classic 80's surfer lifestyle. I would work for a while save up a bunch of money, quite and would just party, sleep in, and surf until the money ran out. Then get a job again. I miss those carefree days.

Did the whole classic rock Zepplin style thing when I was in high school. I was one of the first whie boys in my school to actually grasp rap. Run DMC was the **** I loved their edgy sound. Rap has gone down the tubes for the most part. There are still a few rap groups that are good but for the most part its pretty much the same crap coming from everyone.

I wil bust out the Classical Cd's and the Opera, Luciano Pavarotti is awseome. You cannot listen to him without getting goosebumps.

I like all music from Jazz to Country to Rock to Rap like I said dismiss one style and you are gonna miss at least 1 awesome artist.

Used to listen to radio music (not even old enough to buy my own records at the time)..but then listened to punk-rawk.

Still do (At 20 now), but it's changed. NFG Used to be the bomb to me, but now I find that the lyrics and lack of originality has plagued the rock scene (perhaps it has been for a while, and I was blind to it)...

..case in point...there's not much punk I find worth listening to more than once/twice.

As for what I DO listen to, mostly involves christian worship, I'll go out on a limb here to say that I listen to what I relate to. while some bands I tolerate the lyrics (of which I don't relate to, or are just stupid/lame) simply because their instrumentals rock,...for the most part it sometimes is the other way around (better lyrics/melodies than Rockin' Out). Worship exists outside of "Music" IMO, since its actually a very spiritual thing, so outside of Worship is lots of rock, both new and old.

I am open to anything cool/good. No techno/rap/country/top40 here though. Only thing besides rock(and acoustics) is orchestraited music (woot! FFVII!)

My taste is music hasn't changed all that much. Still very very broad.

40's big band and some swing, andrews sisters and the like. 50's rock and some blues, country. 60's rock, some blues, some country, not all that fond of jazz or some of the motown sound. 70's rock just depending, I'm really picky about classic rock from the 60's and 70's. Some disco but mostly no. Pop depends on the song, mostly to much surup. 80's pop, some rock, no pretty boy rock or metal. RATT once in awhile is fine. No punk. 90's things start to die in a huge hurry, pretty much stopped listening to the radio in the 90's.

Don't like rap or hip-hop. Sheer irritation. Not all that fond of country but I can listen to it. Don't like most Jazz, some fusion is fine. I like certain styles of blues. I like bluegrass. American Folk music. Canadian East Coast/Maritime music (Great Big Sea!) Classical music is good. Madrigal singing rocks. Acapella singing rocks if it's done right.

I like most Christian pop/rock from the 70's and 80's, some from the 90's. It's fallen to crap these days most of it blows.

I can drive most people insane by letting my music collection play at random.

Diversity is the word now. My CD collection looks schizofreniac. I just do not like extremes one way or the other. No death metal, no hard core rap, no sappy country music... I used to just listen to rock/metal.

Stabbing Westward <-- = my fave

Kinda curious how everyone else has changed as they got older. When I was 15-17ish/18, I was really into hip hop and rap. Of course during that time I still liked alternative music, ska, classic rock, and pretty much anything but country. I was the annoying kid that had the big subwoofers pumping out bass next to your car. Now I hate 95% of all rap, a few I actually like though, and can't stand cars pounding bass. I think the majority of the time now I listen to classic rock, if not classic then modern stuff.
I was the same way with punk music back when I was like 14/15. I started getting into hip hop and rap when I was about 16..

I still like punk, and alternative, I'm much more into hip hop now, and there's not much punk I like anymore. Most of punk now is just kids whining about their first kiss and ****. I kind of got sick of it. But I still like bands like NOFX.

My brother has always been into sound competitions and stuff (for car stereos), he still does judging at competitions and stuff. He always taught me if they can hear the bass outside the car, they damn well better be able to hear the words too.

I prefer clarity over just bass.
