Gun Fans
Anti gun people **** me off. Sometimes I wish it was manditory for everyone out of high school to spend at least 2 years in the armed forces just to learn what being an american is all about. That and maybe a little trigger time would help people relax and not be so afraid of a firearm. I think people are mostly agaisnt them because they've never seen a need for them, much less used one.
As for me, I carry just about every day (legally armed). I'm at the range at least every other week. It's my only hobby that takes more time than my rx-7, so says my wife. I haven't counted lately but I own somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 firearms. Most of which are locked up. I'm also a lifetime member of the NRA. So you could say I'm a supporter.

Lol. I just finished cleaning my 5 round .38 special snub nose revolver. I like this thread.
I need a banana clip for mine. My biggest clip is a 25 round
and it quit working for some unknown reason...
Hrmm. Better get rid of the ruger 10/22 as well. 22 is a wimpy caliber but with a nice bannana clip on it I can hold 200+ rounds and mow down most anything that isn't really heavily armoured.

[quote name='1988RedT2' date='Jul 22 2005, 03:50 PM']This thread has got me thinking that there are a lot of things besides guns that really NEED to be banned. Dangerous things, that could harm their users or others. Things like:
Knives
Cars
Bowling *****
Power tools
Glass bottles
Sleeping pills
Rottweilers
Baseball bats
Golf spikes
Hamburgers
Parachutes
We really need to protect everyone by eliminating dangerous things from our world, and we can easily do this. We just need to ban everything!

Please point out which one of these awful items'
sole purpose is to kill people or practice killing people.
And don't try to tell me you can use a 9mm or a 5.56mm FMJ round to hunt.
Then go tell the kid locked in the Lexan box at a 24hr gas station that he lives in freedom.

He had the freedom to find a different job. or not take a job at all, or get a better education and get a better job. or a million other choices. No one forced him in there.
And my .38 serves the exact same purposes as my .357 lapd revolver. To kill someone who is attempting to kill me or take that which is mine. And I won't stall for a second when I need to use either. or both if the SOB is unlucky.
I also use them for entertainment. I enjoy throwing a 5 gallon bucket out and seeing how many holes I can put in it before it hits the ground. Or seeing just how far I can walk away from it and still hit it on the first shot. Its getting to be pretty damn far for a revolver. (for the 357 that is. the snub nose 38 is worthless beyond 50 yards)
My 10/22 is for whatever the hell i want it to be for. Mostly either small game hunting or for target practice.

Here you can do that job without the bullet proof glass. If he can't safely do that job without bulletproof glass, how can you in good conscience allow your wife or kids fill up with gas there? Freedom is being able to safely go anywhere you want, at any time you feel like.
Laws in USA, Canada and European countries are all based off the same model, other than the gun thing, perhaps someone could share why there is a massive difference in crime rate?
Obviously a couple of you did not read the thread. Like I said earlier, I am a bit of a gun buff myself. I grew up on a farm, and I've been shooting since I was very young. If I hadn't moved to the city I'd probably have built a target rifle instead of my car.
HOWEVER, I have a real problem with people who think EVERYONE has the right to own a handgun (there is a BIG ******* difference between a target pistol and a Beretta 92!!) or an AR-15 (oh wow, that took HOW LONG to modify it for full auto?) My best friend was nearly shot a few weeks ago. She works as a bartender. It was URBAN NIGHT and a guy got shot 20 feet behind her bar. If they had not hit him with every shot, she would have been hit. He was NOT shot with a 30-30 Winchester, or hit with a bowling ball. WTF does that have to do with YOUR supposed RIGHT to own a gun? Guns used for crime here (there aren't many YET) are purchased easily in the US and smuggled here.
'But I filled out a form and waited a grueling 10 days' BIG ******* DEAL! Timothy McVeigh likely filled out the exact form, and looks exactly the same as you on that form. If you decide to sell your gun cause you need some cash, did the guy you sold it to fill out the forms? OF COURSE NOT!!
I feel sorry for the police down there, I really do. I've been pulled over here at all hours of the night. I have NEVER seen a police officer lay a hand on their gun while approaching my car. Do you think they do it there for the fun of it?
I'm definately with Tyson on this, guns are ment to be used for food and survival from food that can eat you ie bear, damn yoggy. guns are used on farms to protect livestock, and to kill things so you can eat them, or put them out of their missery. i also have been pulled over MANY TIMES and never have i seen the gun drawn, or hand near the gun, maybe because i am curtious and pull into a well lit area so the officer feels more comfortable i donno, but it works. your gun laws, or lack there of suck.
The anti-gun arguement, no matter how well intentioned presents an impossible solution.
1. Very few people should be allowed to own guns, but not people who could possibly someday use them to hurt people. Ok, here's the thing. People who break laws with guns will have no problems breaking laws to GET guns. So making guns nearly impossible to get will only make it easier forcrimes to be comitted, because the criminal will know that 99% of people they might want to rape/rob/highjack/kill won't be armed. It'll be a free for all.
2. Well, you don't really have a viable second option. We could melt all guns and build one big *** flower sculpture. But then a bird might conk his head flying into it and you'll all be crying about the "killer flower" with no other purpose but to hurt widdle birdies.
3. Mob movies would suck without guns. You would essentially be killing Martin Scorsese. How would you feel then, huh?
