I agree that the whole owning 12 million weapons for home defense is asinine. As someone who spends a very fair amount of practicing room clearing drills and CQB, then putting it to the test in Iraq and Afghanistan I can tell you, when 12 Super Elite Ninja Commandos with Mp5s fast rope from a Hind through the skylight of you're living room, no amount of guns can save you're paranoid ***. Thats actually what my buddies article in "Guns" is about. But on the other hand, although Im single and have no kids, someday I will. And when I do, rest assured, anyone that threatens them is gonna answer to .45 ACP hollow-point.

As far as assult rifles go, they are my bread and butter. I have one one of them strapped to my body for 18+hours a day. I own them because I enjoy shooting for sport and for nothing more than nostalgia reasons. Other than for ***** and giggles, sure an assault rifle is useless. That dosent mean you shouldnt be able to own them.....

ONE person who intends to kill you in order to rob you can easily do it.

Unless you sit in front of the TV fondling a gun at all times, in which case you are one of the people who should not have ANY weapons, be they machine gun or sharp pointed stick.

I can get a car and go kill a bunch of people, quicker than I can obtain a gun and do the same. And I could probably kill more people in a car before reloading, than I could with a gun. Not that I would, but that might put things in a different perspective.

AR-15 style platform (assult rifle) is widely used in shooting competitions and varmint hunting. Just one example.

I know, but I prefer bolt action.

For a few competitions the heavy barrel AR-15s are ideal, but 99% of people that are offended because they can't own an assault rifle have no idea what those competitions might be.

I always enjoyed having guns to shoot the stray dogs that came into my parents yard. If the neighbor can't keep it locked up then its death by a 357.

Well see the thing is. People have this hard-on for getting rid of Assault-rifles, but look at the statistics. Pistols and shotguns kill way more people than assault rifles. If i was gonna whack someone you can rest assured it would be with .308 at 800meters. Not at 15ft with an AR or AK.

[quote name='sweet7' date='Jul 20 2005, 12:05 PM']Salute to you man. Looks like a Spas-12 or one of the Bennelli models with M4 style, collapsing butt-stock?

Close. It's a 12GA FN Herstal TPS with fixed choke and retrofitted M16/AR15 collapsible/adjustable stock, pistol grip and an EOTech Holosight.

One of my dream guns, first of many I'm a collector in the making.

Ok, im not to up on the most of the tactical shotguns. We use the Benelli M1 and thats about it. I said M4 collapsible butt because in the military, the M4 is basically an m16, just with a shorter barrel and collapsible butt-stock.
