Got the dinghy in the water!
#1
So we've been looking for a sailing dinghy that will also take a motor and plane for about 3 years. So we finally found it, i decided to replace the old wood transom pads with marina board and launch her. I had a shitty little bilge pump that runs off batteries and it didnt work, so i had the dinghy tied to the side of the boat last night and it got rough, water was splashing off of Roshambo into the dinghy and of course it was full of water this morning. Well **** this i say I'll install a battery and auto bilge pump, so i did that and I say screw this I'm going sailing, so i get it out there and I'm hauling in light wind on a reach, dolphins are right off the starboard side i decide to turn back and run by the guys at the boat rental place and say hello, throw the tiller over and SNAP the wooden handle breaks LOL **** i go ahead and dump the boom and see whats up. I had to make it back to the boat by using sail trim, i can usually steer with trim however the little boat is a bit more effected by current so i had to feel it out then i shot back to the boat.
I made a new tiller out of larger teak, actually it;s a flag pole LOL
