Im in need of hooking up 3 pc's to a single printer. the easiest, cheapest way would be a switch box. my problem is that one of our computers uses software that runs on 3.1, yes i know. the other 2 run NT 4. would this be a problem?? are switches OS dependant? never needed to install one before. does compusa have one to fit my needs(hint, hint).

thanks

this is for work...

ummm no 3-1 switch at compusa.......

switches are software independent. you just need to the printer driver on each machine

This is a cool automatic switch for IEEE 1284.

It's a 4-1

if they all have network cards, get a SMC broadband router...its got a print server which probably has 3.1 drivers....
