Ok, I know there are the stupid pop up stoppers that as they pop up, they close the windows, and some even make like firing/bomb noises.... but that isnt what i want.



How the hell do pop up ads work... do they work with cookies??? cause some sites that I know dont have them and they still pop up for those sites too. I tried deleting cookies nad **** thinkin that might help, but it didnt really help at all (maybe a bit better).



So come on all you computer gurus... tell me how they work and what I can do to stop those communist bastards

 

does anyone have the "Save Now" windows popup? i tried ad-aware and it says it removed it but sure enough everytime it comes back, i dont even use kazaa or have it installed!

Just use Netscape 7.0 to browse instead of Internet Explorer. Has pop-up blocker built in. Opera 7.01 same deal, but doesn't handle badly made pages quite as well.

I had severe pop-up problems, even when IE wasn't open (I'm on a network). I think Mike gave me this link:

there was some stuff that had installed on my computer by a parasite, and it made pop-ups come up constantly. Later, I had spybot installed, and it found the stuff that the parasite dectector didn't pick up. Now I only see pop-ups on certain sites, but I know what to expect. (for instance, I visit shockwave frequently, and they always have like 1 pop-up...doesn't bother me)

 

yea i have thyat save now bullshit...and some other shitty pop ups that just come up when im not even running IE....its weird....i hate internet...mike smash!!!

 

get it off there! it's easy, the parasite decector thing gives you step-by-step instructions

 

frestyle: use SpyBot! it has removed every last trace of "Save Now" that both ad-aware and the parasite detector couldn't find.



I'm proud to say im now parasite/spyware free i ran ad-aware, spybot, and parasite detector and no more traces of nuffink
