FYI, the LS1 long block weighs within 30 lbs of the 13B REW long block in most cases.

and how much is that weight?

look thru the website. All you non-believers will see that the total weight of the LS1 swap makes the car weigh LESS than the stock FD3S. Also, the conversion has a 50/50 weight distribution(front has slightly more weight than the rear by 30 lbs I believe).

You have to remember...even though it's a larger engine, it doesn't have a manifold/turbo/intercooler etc.

at least the LS1 is an all aluminum engine, more than I can say for the 13B.

Regardless of weight dist, and all that other b/s , it should be against the law to have pistons in a rx-7, rx-7s are rare and and should people puttin v8's in them should be taken to jail.

The car weighed 2,831lbs with a full Touring interior, sunroof, complete Bose sound system including the "Sound Wave," and a 1/4 tank of gas.

Total Weight: 2,831lbs (50/50 F/R ratio)

LF: 746 RF: 677 Total Front: 1,423lbs

LR: 675 RR: 733 Total Rear: 1,408lbs

Taken from their website.

Now I'm not preeching to everyone to get this done. But before you argue about "V8's are too heavy" or "It'll throw the balance of the car off" please know what your talking about. I personally would rather put a 20B in the car and be done with it.

Same could have been said for the mazda engineers that decided "different" was better.

Someone decided that they would try to engineer something different. Decided that it was a good idea. Made the necessary modifications and now they have something that works! We can all say that it's a terrible idea, it'll never work...but imagine Mr. Wankel talking about 2 triangles on a stick.

it least the v8 has a low cg, and can make lots of power. its a much better swap than say a supra motor which its tall and top heavy
