Sounds like a savage way to ruin a perfectly good car to me. But I am not sure I know what I am talking about. I don’t know much about the LS1s.

This has been going on for awhile now. I'm not sure why you'd want to do it.. but it does work. Destroys the weight distribution though. And for the price of an LS1 you could put a 20b in the car and keep your weight dist.



Yokel solution to not knowing what to do to a car with no pistons - put in an american POS pushrod engine.

It's a great idea. I think everyone should do it.

FYI, the LS1 long block weighs within 30 lbs of the 13B REW long block in most cases. Weight distribution my ass.

How do you keep the weight distribution by putting in a larger engine? The weight of the 20B isn't centered.

makes about as much sense as taking an impreza wrx, making it only RWD so you can do burnouts, and putting in a 302 for more torque and no turbo lag.



you completely remove the heart of the car. if LS1 power is that important, buy a chevy. otherwise, accept the superior engineering from Professional Mazda engineers and drive a rotary. there are plenty of great handling cars that use pissed on engines.



personally, i say keep it in the family. you got a piston ford, stick a bigger ford engine in for more power. i just like to keep things real, that's all.

I agree with RX7Aggie with the keep it in the family. However there are exepctions (Rotary Datsun 510')

It's just a car. How many V8 swaps start out by throwing away a healthy turbo rotary? A very small percentage, I'd say.
