I just need the computer no accessories, i have a brand new printer and a flat screen lcd monitor. This pos sony vaio only has 5gb of memory what the hell!!! so anyhow what should I get, and what components should I look for?

5 GB of MEMORY?!?

You must mean hard drive space. It sounds like an older machine and C&C requires an 800mhz processor at least I beleive.

I would get either a Chaintech or Asus(dunno about them, they are fast boards but Phins has had bad luck with them) motherboard with the NforceII chipset, an Athlon XP 2600, 512mb Corsair XMS PC3200 DDR ram, and an ATi Radeon 9500 (can be updated to a 9700 pro through a bios update).

Then order a case from www.frozencpu.com and maybe a few trick heatsinks too.

Edit - and get a 60gb 7200rpm hard drive. They are pretty cheap right now.

Asus, all the way...and definitely AMD. Get a Volcano heatsink/fan combo from Thermaltake to cool that bad boy CPU. You want DDR memory, 80GB hard drive (40 will not last, trust me), and the 3D card is a matter of personal preference. I like NVIDIA, so I bought the GeForce Ti4600 when it came out like 8 months ago. You could probably save a lot of cash going with the 4600 instead of the 9500 or 9700, though I'm not positive. I'm still waiting for the GeforceFX...

If you have any questions, just ask.

This game was programmed to run slower, but if you have an old machine that can barely handle it, its going to be pretty intolerable.

Read this thread on the ATi forum about raising the FPS limit.

But it sounds like you'll need a newer machine to really enjoy it. Oh, and if you get the above mentioned volcano fan, I hope you like your computers like you do your RX-7s! LOUD!

Hehe, nothing like the sound of a jet engine man. But it really performs well at the lowest setting, I only use the others for some intense UT2k3 and the like.
