Gay Marriage
#22
I went to a gay wedding...it was just like any other wedding only with 2 brides. Their relationship is just like any other relationship only with two "women of the house". I guess since I'm used to it, it doesn't bother me, but I don't see why a big deal should be made out of it, no matter what your viewpoint.
"I just read that the state of New York doesn't recognize gay weddings. I think if I were driving along and saw a gay wedding, I'd recognize it right away." - some comedian (my dad)

I don't quite understand why gay people want to get married in the first place. Do they think it makes them a happy couple just like their parents? With how shitty marriage stats are out there anyway, what's the point? Do they think marriage will help them stay together for the kids, like so many regular couples do?
Since they have been allowed to be considered common law for a while now, why go to the extra step of a "marriage" which in this day and age is mostly a religious consideration anyway? Legally, common law couples are in practically the same boat anyway, why go to the extra step? Marriage has generally been considered the precursor to the traditional family picture, so I think the gay marriage is pretty stupid.

I guess I should say that I rarely talk about religion, I think that the whole religion discussion is counterproductive, everyone has their beliefs and that is awesome, i wouldn't want it any other way. I can't nor can anyone convince me that their view is correct. It's something I rarely discuss because people are so passionate and they rightfully so they think their view is right.
So if this topic upsets you, take a minute to think, to see the others view and realize that an opposing view in no way threatens the validity of yours.
