Rotaryrocket7:

Not to like say you're wrong but I don't agree with most of what you said, since you posted three individual times for god knows what reason (edit button blow up?) I cant quote you nor do i feel like trying so i'll list them chronologically:

A) Buddylists are stored on AOL servers except with some versions of AIM nowadays therefore if a virus goes onto your computer they will never find a buddylist.

B) Win.ini and system.ini don't hold any important passwords except at times password when used in conjunction with Novell Netware (stupid *** program, stores passwords in the .pwl files, then tells you where they're stored, although the encryption is of great quality, it didn't take long to formulate a decryption routine.) Win.ini I believe sometimes holds personal information only if you fill out the stupid Windows "personal info" thing....which no one does anyway .

C) Only idiots make viruses that can be deciphered with a freewre program like hex workshop, those who do are very sad individuals, are the ones who get caught, and are the ones who give a bad name to everyone involved in the computer world. I can make a virus that sends e-mail to 500 addresses all listed in alphabetical order, that if you open in Hex workshop would have no idea what you were looking at.

D) LMAO, Aol... Catch... People? Now that's just funny, the only people that can enforce anything is the government, and thats only if you are in a country which is governed by a country with internet laws. I'd like to see AOL attempt to sue someone. The only way they can is if the person uses an aol account to create, publicize, distribute, and utilize the virus....which no one ever does.

E) "Backdoor" wasn't a program. Backdoor is simply a way of saying you can enter someone's computer without sitting in front of it, such as telnetting into an appropriated port. Using a backdoor to a specific program however can allow you to do some damage, this is currently effecting the Linux market in a big way, and has always plagued the windows market. generally backdoors are used to setup other events, the actual backdoor itself does nothing but allow access. Sub7 is a trojan, trojans can cause harm but only if given to idiots. Most of these "pcAnywhere" programs are simply popularized trojans. Hell one of the more popular trojans went on to BECOME a "pcAnywhere" type program. Hell Kazaa is technically a limited-power trojan virus. The raw definition of trojan is a "program which allows other users to access your computer from an outside source".

F) The only people that work for AOL are now pretty much code writers, there are no more "CATWatch" and all that ****, for the most part the surveillance is automated via "keyword catchers" programmed into the software. You type certain words and each time you do it they watch closer, they being the software, and once you reach a set level you begin being given restrictions. Except for IM's, those are monitored via the "report them" system which is soooooooooo ineffective.

Now don't take this as like me talking **** I'm just clarifying some things for you and anyone reading this topic.

Oh yea,

G) Damn Repus..

im a growing "automotive technician" aka mechanic lol.

computer **** was and has been a hobby for a while, i never give it enough attention that it takes away from my life (far from some geek in a corner, more of a punk on the corner lol) but when i get into it I get deep into the technical aspects and whatnot. I've got a CCNA (decided not to go for the CCNP test after) from cisco, lol supposively it's a ticket to mad money but I never found time to get a computer job.
