I have to say I am split between fraternitys. I think that they could be a cool place to party and meet chics and meet some good friends, but...of the frat guys that i have met, they are all ********. there basic attitude is "Im in fraternity, I'm better than you". So i dont think that I would ever join one.

I wouldn't stereotype everyone. Every guy in a fraternity isn't like that. Unless of course you think I'm an *******...

Yeah there can be ******** in any fraternity but there can also be ******** anywhere in life and I bet they even out.

It is also different in every fraternity and depends on the individual in that fraternity so don't condemn the whole college lifestyle because of a few ********.

I knew ******** in college that were not in a fraternity but I did not condemn the non-fraternity lifestyle. It is just a choice. There were folks that were the opposite. They would think they were cool because they felt they did not have to conform like us "********" in the fraternity. Well, having that attitude is being just as bad as the frat-boy attitude.

frats suck .. you shouldn't have to buy your friends
"Rent a Friend...Join a Frat"

Frats are not looked highy upon at A&M. It's a waste of money. The $1500 / year you spend does not cover Crush shirts, the cost of your date for date parties, alcohol at date parties, etc. Since most colleges are hampering down on underage drinking, that cost of a frat also doesn't necessary cover beer, since "official" frat parties involving alcohol are no longer allowed. In the end, that $1500 you spend is a complete waste of money and only serves to fuel upperclassmen "big brother" beer expenses. So, what are you paying for? "FRIENDS". I've known lots of guys that joined a frat, ran out of money, and became inactive. What do you know? All their "friends" left them. It's pathetic. And in most large frats, there are clicks within the frat, with cool brothers and uncool brothers. So even though you might be in one frat, there is still discrimination and alienation.

IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

$1500 will buy 100 cases of miller lite here in texas!!! that's enough beer for 2 cases a week, or about 7 beers a day. Your money is better spent elsewhere, on yourself, or on your car.

You time and money will be much better spent if you join a social organization at your college, like a service coed frat. They cost 1/10 of the price, and you are actually in a club with other girls. And most hot chicks do that service crap, so you will meet lots of hot girls.

Check out an open house at the beginning of the semester at your college to see if there are any cool clubs to join. A&M has over 700 clubs and organizations, with hot chicks in lots of them. I'm sure your college will have a lot of clubs also.

Also, there are much better job networking clubs out there. A&M has teh Aggie Network and the Career Center, two awesome sources almost guarenteeing a job.

You can also become a leader in another organization that doesn't take as much time. Join a Entrepenuers club and become VP, or Alpha Phi Omega coed service frat, and become Advertising chair. Much better experience and leadership development, and you meet hot chicks directly.
