if youre worried about finances (which you should be) you should not be even considering building up a car, let alone the most unreliable one on the planet.

like sinful said you will not be able to get a loan if you cant even get a credit card. personally i had to start out getting a cc from capitol one with a 200 limit and not going over or being late with the payments. now ive got about a 700 for my credit score and im only 21.

if youre so in love with rotaries you need to sell your fd and get an fb until you are making the loads and loads of money you will next year. that way if something breaks you can fix it, and if you cant, it will be cheap

take mass transit or whatever for a little while, save up and buy an old scooter or old motorcycle. Reliable, cheap and easy to work on, cheap to drive and own.

you only paid 6k for it and ive been around for a while.

you should try to sell it, dont get attached to a car with a salvage title, those things are only good for track cars! you should be able to get 5 or 6 for it, then when you have a better job and can afford to pay cash for an fd and have 3k in the bank so you can fix it when it breaks, get an fd.

Are you making payments on the FD? Or paid that $6k in full?

I wouldn't recommend taking out another loan.

Find a decent Toyota/Honda/Acura for $1k, buy it, and do what you have to do.

A large majority of us should look at the benefits of these financial choices we make, and I can assure you, 75% of the time you're better off waiting until you can pay it in full (Real Estate exception, the 25%)...
