i like phins idea first, if that doesn't work. start pulling plug wires one at a time, and notice how far the rpm drops each time you will find one (or 4 its lot lots o' cylinders...) that does not drop. that one (or four) will be your problem.

if its one cylinder you are looking at things like; p.o.s. dropped a valve, broke a pushrod, sparkplug, rocker arm pulled out of the head, bad injector etc.

if its more than one; it could be that bank of injectors; wiring?, hell i dunno i'm surprised i got this far, its a piston engine i dont know how those things work, they are far too complex

I know all you guys are rotaries guys... just hoping someone has had some V8 experiance... this car is a learning tool for me....

I learned a fair amount on my 2.3's... now it is V8 time....

So anyone have any ideas or did I already get them all?

Thanks for any time though!
A compression test would help. I know this might sound crazy, but a low dollar prob could be the fuel filter. Has it been changed latley? Ive had similar problems in 305's and 350's. Ive stomped on the pedal with very little response in throttle, immediatly thinking internal engine parts had gone bad. Now, I always check the low dollar stuff first, just to be sure. F.I. would be the next area to look, it sounds like youve already checked some ignition. A compression test, fuel filter replacement, injector inspection, might cure the problem.

Fuel filter hasnt been changed in a while....

Could stand too..

So I guess I will pick up a fuel filter and an ignition Module then....

that puts me at the 100 dollars I was gonna use for the cooling system... ****.....

But then again I do need my car back....

Will let you guys know...

Although I am leaning towards a fuel injector problem or an actual head problem. Either I can get taken care probably within a month but this is my daily driver so that does suck!!!

Well not ******* 7's cause I like them... but every car has its problem....

Though to be honest this may be partly my problem...

I had been more or less running open exhaust and I am betting I burned a set of valves. Which is why the car began missing and fouling and also why I began overheating....

" I wonder if it's a warped head?", Mac the Ford God

Shoulda talked to him sooner He knows everything and then some..if you can get ahold of him.

My favorite Mac story is him fixing the problem on Ford's old LS series trucks with the Allison auto tranny + Holley carb set up. Ford was having all sorts of problems and he just up and fixed it.

Now if I could get him into rotary engines that would flat rock.

ok guys been looking around... first... only a GXL for sale around here and the motor is questionable at best...

So back to the GT... for those familar with Mustangs or V8's here is what I am doing...

First I am rolling it into the garage putting it up on jackstands.

then here is the parts I am thinking of getting for it.....

TFS Street heat intake manifold (black) $395

Roush 200 Heads $795

24lb injectors $229

Mild cam (maybe not sure...)

1.72 Roller Rockers $249

73MM MAF $179

Radiator $120

Water Pump Hi flow $ 47

Dynomax headers $ 129

I figure nicely above the 300hp mark with this setup...

Most likely in the 350 range.... bye bye clutch! hahaha

With these mods I am really hoping to take out some LS1's

Plus it will put the grand total of what I have into the car including the price of the car still pretty well under 4 grand...

We will have to see... I may go with this variation... or another one I am looking at....

which would be more like this....

TFS Street heat intake (black)

GT40P heads

GT40P headers

1.6 Roller Rockers

Radiator

Water pump

obviously this is a much milder setup..... Should get me pretty well into the 13's though....

Hoping for 280 hp out of this combo... will be down about a grand for this setup...
