OK since this is about my Gt stang and there really isnt a decent place to put this I am bitchin about it in here!!!

Ok so here is the deal... last night I was ******* with a honda but he would just rev it and jump forward and would not race. We were at 40mph so I dropped down to 40 and punched it. She felt fine well he turned off so I dropped back into 4th and got on it. Except she stumbled and fell flat on her FACE! WTF? So I got back on it and it felt like a cylinder or more wasnt firing... Fine prolly just needs a spark plug kinda old anyway...

Well changed all of them... No difference... checked the wires... no difference.. cleaned the cap and rotor... no difference... hhmmmm...

Replaced all of the plugs again.. still no difference

replaced cap and rotor .... still no difference

Replaced Spark plug wires ... still no difference...

Replaced ignition coil .... still no difference...

Ok this better not be a head of a fuel injector!!!

I WILL BE ******* PISSED!!

though it would be a good excuse to upgrade.. but still....

So here is what i am now thinking...

passenger side fuel injector bank...

or..

Ignition module (doubting it but unsure)

Sad thing is I still dont have either my 2.3 coupe up and running or my mitsu... the other 2 stangs are parts cars more or less so they dont count. So this is getting on my nerves.. she is driveable but very very down on power and not very tolerant of anything I want to do...

I know this is a piston vehicle... I know this is a Ford... but any advice you guys can give me on this would be great... Please no Ford bashing heard enough of it today....

So here is some info on the car....

1989 Mustang GT

5.0 (302) H.O

T5 transmission (manual)

83,xxx miles

Just been replaced:

Front brake pads

Spark plug wires

Spark plugs (2x)

Cap and rotor

ignition coil

clutch

Clutch quadrant

tires

Alternator

so all of that **** is new...

Now if it is an injector I can pick a set of those cheap...

If it is the head... I will upgrade to a GT40P head off of an Explorer...

thing is though she is not smoking at all... though you do smell a lot of unburned gas... which leads me to believe she isnt firing. But I just replaced all of that ****!!!

depending on what year that thing is, you may have a bad TPS or MAF

Check the compression on all eight. You might have broken a valve spring, or something....

Sorry Twin89stangs, but it's a FORD... what would you expect.

I've owned 2 fords and sad to say they both sucked! One brand new and had more problems then ANY car I have ever owned. My brand new Ford Escort had a water leak problem that it took the dealer 8 times to fix, they bauked at my car poping out of gear until finally it was recalled. My Aerostar with it's wonderful AL4D Transmission was a nightmare. Search the net for AL4D and you will find hundreds of pissed off Ranger, Explorer and Aerostar owners with transmission problems. I don't think Ford Designers make things to last, they just need to be cheap.

Anyone can take a BIG engine and stuff it into a small car (Insert your vavorite muscle car here)... but only a few automakers actually design performance vehicles (Mazda, BMW, Honda VTec, Mitusbishi, Subaru).

TFI, check the TFI. At 80k it's about ready to eat it anyways on most fords. I seem to remember that the 89's still had them. Usually eat it at around 80k miles give or take.

I have seen them jump time, but usually that causes worse problems then what you're describing.

I'm not as familar with this particular Ford V8 as I am with some of the others, let me go look it up. Otherwise I worked on a fleet of Fords.......

What is even more amazing to me is that you own something like 6 cars and you are having issues getting one to stay on the road.

Is it only at high RPM that is starves? Low load, no rpm it is fine?

If the answer to the above question is yes, what kind of fuel pump does it have?

Well I had thought that maybe a valve or two is causing this because I do have an exhaust leak and have been driving around some with it. (was going to actually fix it the night this **** started) So I may have a burned Valve... Another thing is when I pulled out the old plugs they where solid black. looked like they were coated with oil...

So I am kind of thinking the valves may have taken too much of a beating....

Dont think it is the MAF but I could check..

I am leaning more towards the valves though.... I dont think the shortblock took any real abuse.... especially at only 84,xxx I should be fine... Well I guess I will try a few more cheap things if that doesnt do it then I will begin work on my 89 2.3 coupe and put my 5.0 to sleep until I can afford decent new heads...

On the fuel pump it is the factory unit... I believe it is like a 90lph pump... not good if ya go over like 300 hp...

It is also an intank unit..

Well upto this point it would feel like it was hitting a rev limiter around 4800-5000rpms. So I will replace the belt and fuel filter this weekend also... what sucks is I will have to driver her like this to work and back until I can get my 2.3 up and on the road...

as far as it jumping timing that would be a bit difficult on this motor but not impossible... it has a timing chain on it and should be good until around 100k.... and on the A4Ld note yep know of it.... got 4 of them here.... they used them in the 2.3 stangs also... I need to find a damn C4 for that thing....
