Ouch!! Sorry to hear it. My knee (collateral ligament, so the doc said) started hurting when I was running HS track and field. It was swollen and it hurt to walk for like 3 months. Finally got to the point where it stopped hurting and the swelling went down.

Many, many years later, it still lets me know from time to time that it isn't all it could be. If I strain it, it will hurt for a week or more. Lifted a 327 block in the garage on Saturday and its been hurting a little this week.

Hate to see them replacing parts in an 18-year old. Are you an athlete? How did you mess up your knees?

my knees used to hurt all the time, it really helps to lift the wieght correctly, your hip, knee, and ankle all have to be in line, otherwise it'll hurt. mine hurt now, cause my legs not straight!

if you're doing something like water polo or cricket, you're just screwed

I beg to differ, running can add years to your life - however you might have spent all those years running, so I suppose my point is it's up to you

Whats the sense of doing all that running just to end up in a wheel chair, then you wont even be able to drive. I'll take my time and walk. sorry to hear about that specially at 18
