note to self: Send memo to Peterbuilt, kenworth, freightliner, Caterpillar, Cummins, Navistar, MAN, and all other Diesel MFG's and vendors to tell them Turbos on a truck are CRAP!

that new turbo system that mounts towards the rear of the car on the exaust pipe is made for a Tundra isnt it?

thats supposed to be a hot set up, and 50 state carb legal.

btw- new inspection machines for NYS are OBD specific, the car now gets plugged in to the inspection machine, the OBD II computers spit out the VIN# of the car, if anything trips the OBD off the car fails, so the days of tunning new cars that dont have carb exempt products on them are fast coming to a end.

yeah. they make the rear mount turbo system for the tundra, but I don't have confidence in it. I would have to see it/feel it to believe it.

Please do, I just had to change out a couple on Peterbuilts and Freightliners and I dont want to do it again anytime soon!

I was just thinking about this today, hearing the turbo spool up in a semi. Well, a rotary isn't a diesel powered piston engine, so you go ahead and write your letter. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

A turbo-fed REPU would suck for towing compared to a supercharged one.

there is no way around them unless the parts are carb exempt, unless people can hack the cars computer, which would be a federal offense.

there is a way around it, you just make the stock ecu think its running everything, while its actually not

Rob x-7 02-07-2005 09:19 AM

that would fall under the catagory of hacking the computer in a way wouldnt it?

I dont think the average joe would be able to trick the computer.
