[quote name='Travis R' date='Jun 1 2005, 12:51 PM']You see the point though, right? His sword is representative of nothing tangable in the real world. My bank account IS. I can take the "virtual" money in my bank account and turn it into real money... He can't do that with the sword.

If a hacker went into his system and changed the coding so that in the game he no longer had a sword.... was something stolen from him (in the convetional sense that someone could be charged with the crime)? IMO the answer is clearly no.

The trick is that alot of times, these things start to carry real world value. Think of Diablo 2 and all the ebay auctions... it lives on with WoW. A computer game is a dangerous thing.

[quote name='Dave 88 A.E' date='Jun 1 2005, 02:02 PM']I think a real sword is better than a fake one anyday.

I don't know if someone said this yet, got kinda bored with the topic, but you can in fact sell accounts to these games for Real Money.

It's illegal for WoW but there are a lot of ways you can make money off the game, it's quite sad.
