I've heard opposite from people who have read the book (BTW i read it and absolutely loved it). I don't plan on going to the movies to see it.

Did they miss out on anything important or mess things up from the book? Is Sofie hott? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

phinsup 06-16-2006 10:14 AM

i have read the book as well and honestly can't see tom hanks playing langdon. I mean tom hanks can't even act, so i don't see how he could pull of any part besides one where he plays his usual character.

Baldy 06-16-2006 11:11 AM

Whoa, you're the first person I've heard of not liking Tom Hanks. I think he's quite talented, changes his speach and mannerisms to match the character. Compare him to other big-time stars, and they all suck.

I like the Da Vinci Code, but I didn't read the book. But then again, I just love going to see movies, so my standards are pretty loose when it comes to that.

phinsup 06-16-2006 11:16 AM

well i guess it beats a another sleepless in seattle, you've got mail flixk with melanie griffith..... doesn't get much worse then that.

Ok, yes, those do suck. I'm thinking of like Cast Away, The Terminal, Polar Express, ummm can't think of more right at the moment.

phinsup 06-16-2006 11:26 AM

yea i didnt like any of those.

Midnightdriver 06-16-2006 11:27 AM

after reading to book then seeing the film...was a little let down...Ron Howard did change some things, and had him doing some things that he didn't do in the book..and yes the woman who played Sophie is HOT!...

The seen in the musieum could have been done so much better..in the book lots of tension..the move FLAT!

phinsup 06-16-2006 11:28 AM

u wanna talk about someone good at manurisms look at johnny depp, i've seen him in roles where you can barely tell who the hell it is.

I could talk to a volley ball for 4 hours and i have no acting skills.

Midnightdriver 06-16-2006 11:34 AM

Depp plays some strange parts

CrassFC3S 06-16-2006 11:36 AM

depp is awesome though hes a very versatile actor

89 Rag 06-16-2006 11:51 AM

The movie was a steaming heap of poo, and I can't read so it all sucked ass, pretty much.

lol, Tom Hanks as himself in every movie he has ever starred in! perfect, so true.

Baldy 06-16-2006 11:55 AM

While we're talking about movies, I recently watched Aeon Flux, I thought that was pretty cool (once again though, low standards for movies that I choose to watch).

More than likely will see Cars this weekend with my son, I'm sure I'll love it.

isamu 06-16-2006 12:14 PM

C'mon guys, your forgetting about Bachelor Party, quite possibly the best Tom Hanks movie ever made.

Baldy 06-16-2006 12:23 PM

Oh, and BIG.

Edna 06-16-2006 01:24 PM

Having loved the book, I was pissed after watching the movie. he changed the ******* ending. well not the ending ending, but the part before it. The whole time my friend and I were like WTF, this is not at all how the book was. But whatev.

i thought tom hanks did ok, he's kinda the wrong type for the role though, harrison ford is too old, um who else wouldja pick? dennis quaid? paul giammatti? joan rivers?

I kinda like Tom Hanks. Not as much as I like Robin Williams or Steve Martin, but close.

I thought Hanks was pretty good in Road to Perdition. Kind of a different sort of character for him.

Tom Hanks can't act? C'mon. You want somebody who can't fuggin' act, get Patrick Swayze. What a chump!

la story is one of his best, imo, then his older stuff is great too

Baldy 06-19-2006 09:28 AM

Oh, another actor I like, Jacqiun Phoenix. Played Johnny Cash, Caeser (in Gladiator, I think), a goofy role in Signs, and retarded (or something?) in The Village.

j9fd3s 06-19-2006 09:52 AM

russel crowe, well maybe he could play phinsup in the nopistons movie

yea he is another good actor, again very good and getting in to character and my god the "the village" was terrible.

j9fd3s 06-19-2006 02:40 PM

unbreakable is maybe the good m night shamalamadingdong movie, or shammylamb how ever you say it. all his others seem to be um, off the mark?

GreyGT-C 06-19-2006 06:18 PM

i'd rather lick my own ******* than watch "unbreakable" again. that movie sucked

I agree. I liked The Sixth Sense the first time around. I also liked Signs, as long as I focus more on the underlying theme of faith, rather than how shitty of a Sci-Fi movie it makes.

GreyGT-C 06-20-2006 11:14 AM

yeah... i really didn't like Signs very much either. We have a group of aliens smart enough to fly 18.2 billion light years to take over our planet, but can manage to get locked into a kitchen pantry. Oh yeah, since i am allergic to water, i'm gonna try to take over a planet that's 75% water. Brilliant.

What is he gonna come up with next? A group of albino's try to inhabit the surface of the sun??

j9fd3s 06-20-2006 04:16 PM

no his new one is a bunch of people taking over the swimming pool.... really

Baldy 06-21-2006 08:20 AM

Jack Black (or "Jackalack" as my son calls him) is awesome. I just saw Nacho Libre, laughed my ass off. Then again, I'm a huge JB fan (including Tenacious D).

Seppuku 06-21-2006 01:18 PM

jack black is great, music and acting. But honestly i didnt enjoy naco libre much. I laughed a few times but other then that was kinda meh.
