Cracks In Paint
#1
I should know this but for some reason I just can't figure it out. I was Painting my car the other day and for some reason when i got to my fender it started to look like the paint was cracking as soon as it flashed. I was using enamel paint over laqour primer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since you said that it was an enamel top coat, the only other thing I would think is that there were contaminants, or, if you've sprayed more than one coat, you may have shot in the "dead spot". I'm not sure if you know, but when painting you have a set amount of time to put on the next coat, usually around 10-30 minutes depending on the paint, if you wait too long, then you have to wait for the service cure time, around 16 hours for most enamels. Sometimes, spraying in this time frame can cause shrinking and cracking simlar to your pics.

I had all the meterial in a temp controlled environment at 70 Degrees F.
I also cleaned the surface thouroughly. It started cracking on the first coat SO I allowed it to dry came back the next day wet sanded the hell out of it and repainted it and still the same problem. and yes I know about the flash time of paint. I have painted 6-7 vehicles so far but this is the first time I've ran into this. anyways thanks all.
