Oh hell it's easy to keep you from giving up. If you do I'll come up to visit you for a weekend. Belive me you'll do anything in your power to stop that.

It's not rx7 specific, I've had alot of bad experiences with the 'performance' auto industry in general... it can probably be said that this happens in all industries, but it seems to be more frequent with car mods.

I try and stick with people I've known (in real life or on the forums) for a while and obviously won't disappear overnight if they've been on for a year or more and post alot of info and pics documenting their own experiences. Example: I let 1revvin7 and bigturbo come over and spend a weekend at my place, they're on here all the time and are clearly just a couple of down to earth guys with fc's, we've had financial transactions in both directions without a hitch. 4RR on the other hand I wouldnt send a penny to or allow to sleep on my front step.

When it comes to businesses I try to only deal with the ones the people I can trust have had experiences with. Obviously sometimes you will end up being the guinea pig but in those cases you just have to use your best judgement, try keep it local so it's easy to go over there with a bat if it comes down to that.

This gives me a good idea, ebay has a feedback feature, maybe phins could add something similar to the member profiles on the forum. Alot of us do business with eachother and if we could see who's done business successfully with who (or at least a pos/neg count under the avatar) it would make it alot easier to prevent situations like these, at least within the scope of the forum. Vendor feedback sortof provides this but it's not as intuitive/easy, you'd have to go searching through it and hope someone went out of their way to make a post about their experiences.

There are a lot of dishonest people out there everywhere. It can be hard to know who is dishonest or honest, but it sounds like you took a chance on a somewhat shady character. Oh well. It's only money, man. Your health is more important than money, so don't trust the wrong people and you might find yourself doing better in both areas. As much as you might have scored by not getting scammed here, was the potential benefit worth the risk of your current situation?

As far as giving up on the third gen, there aren't too many cars in the under $20k range that would give you as much enjoyment. A TII could . .

Man that sucks you lost so much money. I have had some rather unpleasurable experiences purchasing items for my TII. I'm currently in the hole 400 bucks and Im hoping the BBB can help me get most of that back. I have to agree with everyone else about buying from reputable companies and people, or trying to keep it local.

Plus just think, if you leave the rotary community you will be taking away an honest person, which is no good. We want you to stay, and the dishonest people to go away.
