My problem- i have something that tries to boot itself up, not sure what the hell it is, says something like C:\\\ M z $$, some weird **** like that, then it says "bad command or file name" or something to that effect.

I have no clue what it is, but I would like to stop it from doing that on boot up. The computer boots up fine, but I wish I could stop seeing that .

should work if you got xp or 98 or any of those things

on your start menu go to Programs > Startup. delete whatever you dont want to startup with windows.

if that doesnt work ill look more, i know there's either a registry key or .ini file which controls it.

http://aumha.org/win4/a/loads.htm

that way i dont need to explain the 50 different ways to do it, it all depends on what the program is and how it's designer decided to put it into windows.

Virii normally load themselves into each possibility to enable themselves to startup every time windows is loaded and reinfect a possibly clean computer.

it's not always a 2 second find, most programs dont just list themselves in win.ini Load, or Run listings anymore.
