Change of majors...perhaps.

Yeah but Jesus, 90 hour work weeks? Your damn right you'll have lots of money, and no time to spend it.
2 day weekends, saturday and sunday off... which is more then i get now. i work 65 hours a week now, pull in next to no money and work 6 days a week.
Im trying to build a life for me and my girlfriend so id rather have my nose to the grindstone then have us struggling, ya know?
I figure if i can stick it out for a couple years i should be pretty good.
It's industrial/diesel mechanic but a lot of it has been converted to PLC Programming (logic controls). Basically id be running the machines that take the giant containers off of freight ships. well not running them, but keeping them running and operating properly. SO whole bunch of computer nonsense with proximity sensors and bla bla bla. the diesel engines are the most reliable part of the setup lol. (before deciding on being a mechanic i was supposed to go into computers and eventually inherit my dad's mech. engineering company, so im very skilled at computers and im a pretty good mechanic, so i figured this jobs perfect)

If your body and mind can take it more power to ya. I start getting cranky after 60 hours. Most I can remember ever having to work was high 70's in a week. That only lasted a month and I was glad to see it end.

building a life for you and your girlfriend? How old are you? ... and you have a kid with her? ****, I'd tell her to make her own life. Just like I'd tell you to make your own life.
You'll be really upset after you do all that **** and she drags her *** along with you enjoying all the benefits then dumps your *** a year later after sleeping with some black dude she met over myspace or something. lol... but seriously, it will happen. Work hard for you, not someone else, especially a girlfriend.

I've been working 60+ hours a week for 4 years straight. I'm pretty comfortable with it, to the point that im not really tired, it just makes it difficult trying to buy car parts from people in person cause im like "how about sunday at 9pm?" and theyre like "um no."

I'm 21, no kids...cept the cars. I'm not the only one working on the future thing. She actually has a 3.9 GPA at Berkeley going for mmm I wanna say Bachelors (is that the 4 year one?) and is almost there and shes only been going for like 2 years now. she does almost double the amount of classes/work you're supposed to do. And shes majoring in Fashion and Visual Merchandising. With NYC about 30 minutes away her career has very large potential. She's got more work ethic then I do...and I enjoy working 65 hours a week so you can imagine how she is.
I dont really jump into anything head first like that, I'm pretty calculated when it comes to things like this. Plus I'm an entrepenuer so my overall goal is to make enough to go out on my own and do what I want to do, and hopefully be successful.

Remember this: 20 years from now you most likely wont be doing what you went to school for.
I went to Naval Nuclear Power School to operate Submarine Nuclear Reactors in 1981, here it is 2005 and I havent turned a valve one or seen a submarine engine room since 1992. Always keep your options open, something else will pop up

Planned on retiring from the Submarine force with 20 years
