I went out fishing with a couple of friends about 20 miles offshore this weekend. We were fishing a live bottom for seabass, and were nearing our limit, so I put a shark rig on with an 8-9" grunt for bait. After about 20 minutes, something took the bait and started pulling line. I got it up close enough to the boat to see that it was a big shark, and then it just took off. I fought it for 4 hours, and it drug the 22' boat a mile and a half from where I hooked it. After measuring, it was a 9 1/2' tiger shark, Im guessing to be around 350 lbs. What an experience. Thats far and away the largest shark Ive ever seen, let alone caught.

Years ago, we hooked a bunch of black-tipped sharks out of Biloxi, but I don't think the biggest one was over three feet. Pretty sure I'd crap my drawers if I hooked something that big!
