Our DSL did that for a while... every time someone would call us, our DSL would be down for 15-20 minutes. Turns out it was a bad connection in the phone line within the house. That might cause symptoms similar to what you are getting too. Good luck figuring it out.
I figured it has something to do with messed up wiring, but I'm not about to find out.

I've had my DSL for a few months now with no problems on the phone issue. Just had to install filters on all the jacks and all is good.

The modem we do have does suck and has to be reconfigured about once a week. Sucks but I've done it so many times now that it only takes about 4 minutes now for each time.

I have cable internet..

runs pretty well

I have seen download speeds in excess of 200k/sec

Which isnt too bad..

It will probably speed up once my computer is upgraded.

768k/sec 2 way package

3com modem

Intel Pro 100 10/100 network interface card....

But I havent gotten my 750mhz computer up yet... still running on my 450mhz...

Well I have the 1.5Mps service, I haven't tackled any major downloads, but it appears to be faster than DSL at this point.

well for 25 bucks a month I dont mind the slightly lower speeds.. besides this computer is for personal use only no business use.....

I use charter communications... they are pretty good just dont use their USB modems... those are SLOW!

I put on the filters, but I still have trouble. Maybe somebody installed a phone without telling me.

My cable internet was 2-3 times as fast as the DSL.
