Are those like little plastic things that attach to them? something else was in teh box that I did forget to put on. Are those sqeel supressors? Its too damn cold to work on cars up here...
Shims are usually thin metal, and attach to the back of the pad.. they're not necessary, but can be helpful in the application of Stop Squeak, and for setting the proper clearances for the friction surface.

all brakes squeal, it's just a question of wether or not it's audible by the human ear.

stop squeak **** sprayed on the backing plate of the pads can help dampen the vibrations and thus change the frequency of the squeal. When I worked at a muffler/brake shop (CarX) back in the day we had some customers that always had squeals with all brand new perfectly installed and lubed stuff.

hahahaha

I worked at Toyota MMK where your mom's Camry was made. Those brakes can squeal right off the final assembly line to the marshalling yard. Some will, some won't, its crazy mang!

The plastic things were prolly not anti-squeal shims...

Put some stop squeal **** on the friction surface. Put some anti-seize on the backing and it should be good to go.

PM me your address and I'll mail you a bunch of the **** we use at work. Mercedes brakes squeal like a **********er.

The stuff we use is a BG product. I think its graphite based. You let it soak into the pad and it helps alot. I also take pads with sharp edges and chamfer them on the bench grinder....I don't get any squealing comebacks so I must be doing something right.
