I have a simple idea on how to machine a rotor without having to eyeball it, and I'm not even an engineer!

looks like your didn't zero the Z axis properly. Also the spacing is off between the letters, use an edge finder next time!

I'm sure he was extremely concerned with how it came out.

a mill, allows you to move vertical, hozontal, hell basically any way you want, and has an indexed wheel to make .001" or on some even smaller movents. a drill press is no where near as accurate, or ridgid. Mills use different, attachments, (holding devices) to hold the tool, IE taper, collet, ect. mills rock out

oh so basically you can cut into something and move the bit atround, aka how banzai made letters instead of just goign straight up and down with a drill press?

with fuel rails, since your making straight up and down cuts, couldnt you use a drill press? or does a mill produce a smoother result?

yes it allows you to move the bit around
