i'm looking for a new mountain bike, and wondered if anyone on here knew much about them. I'm pretty up to date on them, but not so much on what brands are good or bad.



I'm looking on ebay now, and finding tons of them.



there are a few that I havent heard of. what do you know about Tank brand bikes, or Hondaka?



I really want a GT but none in my price range. I don't want to spend more than about 250 bucks, but for a really nice one, I might swing 300.

I think you might have a hard time finding a really nice bike at that price...not that it's impossible. I'd go for something with a front shock (Rockshox is good) and look for name brands...nothing less than 21 speed. I had a Diamondback Topanga for three years that I absolutely loved and wish to this day that I never got rid of. I beat the **** out of it every time I rode it..bailed on jumps and threw it down and **** and the only thing that ever went wrong was bending the rear rim a bit. I think i paid $500 for it new, but that was a few years ago and the same model is updated and more expensive now.

I'd try to ride the bike before you buy too...everybody has different tastes and you want something that fits you if you're gonna be riding hard. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting some kind of toeclips too. When you ride through crazy stuff you don't want your feet bouncing off the pedals.

 

yea, I had a diamondback for years too. thats what I'm replacing.
