My grandparents had one. The dog's collar emits a beeping sound when the dog gets near the boundary. When it hits the boundary, it shocks them. If they're not trained properly, they'll just get zapped and not know why and keep running (like my grandparents' dog).

I knew my wife's dogs were experienced escape artists. When we moved to the new place, I fenced a large pen with about 600 feet of 6' chain link. Knowing they would dig out, I then ran an electric fence energizer through a single strand of wire about 9 inches above the ground. It literally took half a year before those dogs figured it out. They only got zapped a few times, but then they spent most of their days cowering in the doghouse. Now they're fine. They have a path worn around the perimeter, about 2 feet from the wire.

Training is essential, or they'll just get zapped and not understand why. And their instinct will be to run away, not turn around and stay where they're supposed to.

I picked one up at petsmart for like $250 out the door and its not too bad to set up. of course, I dont have that much land around my place, so you would probly need 2 if you wanted to make a large area

how do you tell if theres a "hole" in your invisible fence, put the collar on and walk around it all?

the control box on the one at my house shows when the line has been cut.

If you teach the dogs when they are young it is much easier.

I can put up white flags wherever the **** I want now and my dogs know not to cross them. I dont even have to use the collars...

What I want to know is this: If the fence you're buying is invisible, how do you know you're not getting ripped off? I mean, you could be buying an empty box, right? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif
