i have seen a few different articles saying mazda isn't abandoning the rotary. i just hope it doesn't take another 9 years before we get a rotary again.

 

There is no doubt they are abandoning it in it's current state. But from what I've read they may be in the process of developing the next gen rotary. The RX-8 was a flop, thats obvious when they are "hoping to sell 1,000 units" lol I was excited about the RX-8, then I saw one and drove one.....

 

oh i agree it won't be the same. i think they learned their lesson that it needs better power, fuel effeciency, and lower emissions. i don't really care about the last two, but in order to sell in the US, those two are pretty much required.

 

There is talk of the 16X going into a sleek new body. Unfortunately, it's not a sports car, more of a luxury performance sedan.

 

unless its a revival of the old rx9 they wont be using this name 'in sequence'..

didnt mazda just provide some announcement that rotary development isnt halting..

 

i had one. i liked it. great driver and fast enough not to get u in trouble. but really needed a true 4dr with better mpg, so bought an integra. but im longing a mazda.lol would get another rx8 if i lived down south or didnt have the rx7. btw have a turbo kit for an rx8 sitting in the porch....
