I really want to buy stock in Google.

The only problem is, I'm a college student and due to the dutch-style auction of the shares, I would have to open an account with Morgan-Stanley or some crap.

My question to you, the investors, is it worth it to open an account to get Google stock, and how much is it to open their "basic" account?

If this is too personal just say it's cheap. Thanks!

just from the results of what has happened with all of the other dot-com companies, i wouldn't. and I'd start small, deal with penny stocks (less that a dollar) and use that as practice, then move up to the big stuff.

Tell me this, how is google going to make money, what do they do that people are going to pay for?

Just go down to a stock broker and buy whatever you want. The online stuff always looks like they hit you up with fees and other crap. You will have to pay a small fee through a broker, but such is life. I sold my corning stocks earlier this year and paid for my FD in full, and still had a nice chunk of change left over. WHOOT

they advertise? hmmm ok, I'm going to put a commercial on tv, it costs me 250,000 bucks. What do they get out of it?

or do you mean, they sell space on their site for other companies to place ads on?

They sell space.

94Touring: the catch to this Google stock is I have to have an account in order to "bid" on a share or shares. Check the link.

I'd say go for it. I've heard Google is the fastest growing company in any market.
