you might be up ***** creek.

Forget the insurance, buy another car to drive and take your time

rebuilding the FD. If anything at least your premiums wont go up.

Ask to speak to someone else, maybe there is something that can be

worked out, but in the end you may just have to foot the bill yourself.

the only time an insurance company should total a car is if the amount of damage is more than the car is worth..and they need your ok...you have the option of them rebuilding it...now some companies wont cover modifications or you need to insure them if its over $1000... they just don't want to repair your car.

You are absolutly correct. Bare with me as I am really drunk. I know legal **** since this was a field I was gonna go into. When it comes to personal property the value is set at the time of the damage. Now if this was a show car then obviously it would be worth more. However.....An Insurance company cannot declare a car totalled unless the damage is more then the value of the car. If the car is modified then it is worth more. However.....If the car is under lien or you havent pait it off yet then their is a different story. But you do own the car and it is up to you on what you want to do. You don't have to declare the car was broken into. You can simply keep it and fix it yourself. That is your best bet. If the unsurance hassles you because of it then sue their asses. And I will only charge you %50 for being your council (just kidding). Seriously....look into it. Most likely they are taking you for a ride!
