I'm glad it turned out ok. Yeah, I'm sure he was just trying to scare you, since you probably scared him. I'm glad you're ok with paying for the wrong you actually did.

I would think that fighting a ticket for a law you actually broke is a bad idea, but I'm sure you know that already (hence you decision).

My advice would be to bring a tape recorder with you when you go to this 'chit-chat'. If the cop does not want you using the recorder, then tell him that if he still wants to talk to you, you'll have your lawyer call him ( get his name & direct number for your lawyer). I'd also tell him to have any revelant information pertaining to the case ready for delivery to my lawyer when he calls ( but that's just me ). Since you already called, you've basicly admitted to being the one driving the car at the time, so you can't use that defense anymore. Good Luck.

Sorry, didn't see that you already had the talk with him. Don't pay the tickets. In my expereince, after the fact tickets never stand up in court, & the fact that you called instead of getting a ticket in the mail works for you in court. Should have had the tape recorder though. I've got one of those little tape recorders & have started carying it with me whenever I'm out in the car. I had a similar experience with cop pulling me over & telling me he could make up any violation he wanted. I'm just waiting for him to try again.

and if you do bring a tape recorder a laywer with steel toed boots and wear a cup.

the cup so when the cop kicks you in the *****.... no harm there.

the laywer with steel toed boots so he can kick the cop in the ***** and then the taper recorder to shove up the cops *** when he is curled over in pain.

I've read this whole thread so far, and I'm sorry to say, you're a ******* idiot for calling up and saying who you were, if you would've just kept your mouth shut(like you're supposed to in situations like this), nothing would've happened instead you went through all this bs, and now you'll have to pay for all these fines and tickets, not to mention your insurance will probably go up. This is a lesson to be learned, USE YOUR HEAD!!!!, remember it's your word vs. the cops, no matter what people tell you. If you would've called your lawyer first he would've told you not to do anything, let them press charges first, then fight it out in court, it would've been the same story either way, it's obvious the officer didn't take into consideration that it was a misunderstanding, so why did you should you have taken him into consideration? I'm sorry to flame here, but that was a stupid move calling up guy.

u know that is bull ****. i would've brought along a tape recorder if i coudlnt' find a lawyer.

that cop is full of **** too. i would hire a lawyer and tell the story to him. Lawyers are the only real people to trust. THat and the priest/father

I'm sure your new found lawyer will have a thing or two to say about this.
