my buddy and i were shootin the **** tonight, and he mentioned how he wants to fix up this old pickup he has ('89 nissan) with a 'z24'. just wondering if anyone knows anything about these. he was planning on having the engine, maybe tranny rebuilt, and seeing if he could get a couple grand out of it.

i'm gonna have a look see at the truck and engine tomorrow sometime, i might buy it for uber cheap if there's potential in it and if i can talk him into it.

anyways, just wondering if anyone knows anything about these trucks/engines

dont buy it and fix it up,take that money and put it towards your 7,your not exactly going to get massive power out of a nissan truck and would be beter off spending the money on your 7 imho.

haha! I have 2 of those trucks...one's an 87, the other an 89. They are good little trucks. I am in the process of selling both of mine, because I have too many vehicles. One runs, one doesn't (just doesnt have a tranny-great motor). Feel free to buy mine! Both for $300! The Z24 is the motor, which is basically the SOHC version of the American 240SX motor. Same block. That engine is also used in the Altima, up to like 2000. 2.4L, like 100hp and 150tq. It's a good motor!

The motor is actually a KA24E . . . yes it is a good engine, can readily get 200hp n/a, or you can put a good amount of boost on it

I actually have an '87 Nissan pickup myself now, it has the V6 though, and is automatic - made for "leisurely" driving . . .
