you didn't catch my point at all.

You still expect the police to do everything for you, as most people do. But you don't want them to do anything TO you, but to somehow investigate, prevent and prosecute crime without you noticing they are there and without your assistance.

And you don't seem to get mine, I am saying that I do not want to give up any of my rights in the name of getting rid of drug dealers, you are saying that you do. I am saying that I do not want to give up any of my rights to keep "bad guys off the streets", you are saying you do. Your reasoning comes through again and again and again and again, a federal building got blown up in oklahoma, so the police there are no longer obligated to follow the laws governing our land. Where does it end?

Where did I say what I want the cops to do for me? Guess I missed that in my posts, the only person I see wanting the cops to do anything for them is YOU, YOU want them to put an end to drug dealers, the only thing i have said I want them to do is follow the laws they are paid to uphold. Please show me where I have said I expect ANYTHING from the cops other then to follow the law they are employed to uphold. Did I say I expect them to protect my home? NO I said I expect them to stay out of it, I protect my home. I've said the opposite time and time again, I carry because I protect myself, where is that i am saying I expect someone else to protect me? Where is it that I have said I expect the cops to do anything FOR me, please show me.

It can be summed up with an old saying, I say "I don't agree with what you are saying, but I would do anything to defend your right to say it"

You are saying "I don't agree with what you are saying and therefor I will give up my right to say anything if you are forced to say nothing as well"

I get what tyson is saying, and I get what phins is saying.

Tyson is not saying you specifically want the police to do for you, but rather the public, we dont want buildings blown up, we dont want drug dealers running the town, and we dont want planes flown into buildings. We also dont want them coming into our house and searching it, we dont want them searching our cars, we dont want them searching our persons.

I've already said several times I would rather that the citizens dealt with problems rather than requiring the police to do it. If citizens DID NOT ACCEPT high level of crime in their own communities there would no justification for huge police forces. Nowhere have I said I support what you're complaining about, I've only questioned how you can expect better?

But hey, I can walk down the street in the worst neighbourhoods in my whole country anytime I like.

Frank mentioned the neighbourhood he grew up in. Do you think the bars in the windows are there to keep out the police? No, they're their to keep out their neighbours. People have locked themselves in a cage and allowed the losers around them to take away their freedom. It's already gone. Where I grew up we only locked the door if we were going to be away overnight.

HA HA, I'll let Frank answer that one, but knowing the LAPD i'm guessing you might be suprised by his answer!!!

Anyhow Tyson I appreciate your perspective and it's a pleasure to have a discussion with someone without getting called names. I posted on another forum yesterday that I didn't like Glenn Beck and basically that he was a mouthpiece for the Neocon agenda and the guy basically called me a traitor and an *******.

that's kinda how all this crap got shoved down your throat. Calling it the Patriot Act basically proves that.

Your media sat around and let it happen, because they were afraid of that accusation and the loss of advertising dollars it would bring.
