Hello all, I'm new to the whole rotary concept and I've seen some remarkable figures and 1/4 miles times achieved by these engines. I like the styling of the RX3 and I'm wondering if any of you could tell me what would be the best engine to run in this car to achieve the best power output, reliability and best 1/4 mile time. I've heard the 13b Turbo is ideal, but as i said, I don't know much about these engines. A ballpark figure on cost would be appreciated too. Thanks.

Well, I guess no one has any idea, 'cause if they did, I'd have a reply by now. Thanks for nothing.

Isn't it really more of a matter of how much money you can throw at them to make it better? There's a really big debate still going on about the "best engine" for the rotaries. If you want perfectly ideal without money being an issue, an r26b is obviously the "best." But that's the problem, some other person on here may believe that the 13b's potential still hasn't been realized so they'll say that it's ideal. Ask a question like that and you'll probably only get an opinion.

Thankyou. Ok, well money is an issue, Budget is around the $25,000 mark for the entirety of the build-up. Is this enough to see a 13B pulling some mean figures/passes? (Taking into account there'll be around $15,000 alone for the engine while the rest is spent on strengthening the rest of the car and whatever else).

For that amount you could have a fairly serious 20B, for drag that's what I'd go for with that budget.

20B hey, I'm really going to have to learn more about the engines before I make any form of an intelligent judgement... I know it's a 3 rotor but that's about it. What is this RENESIS engine like?

RENESIS is the engine out of the RX-8. There is not much on it as of right now, since it being a brand new engine. It is still a 2 rotor setup, but different in many ways. I could not list the difference between that and a regular 13b. The only thing developed is a turbo kit, but there is slight problems with it. One forum member runs this kit, and has seen very good hp numbers at such a low boost setting on the stock ECU.
