Good to hear esters inn is still there. I was kind of neat stopping there when it was freezing outside and being in a jungle(manmade.) You could use the bug CVs, but I really recommend the bus Cvs, You can buy the flanges that fit a bug transaxle. Also the porsche 944 and VW thing stub axles fit and use the bus CVs. Swingaway axles are also a good thing as they take some of the torque off of the transaxle.(this is all on an IRS car.) Check with the web site for Stuff Transaxle for beefed trans's, the flanges, axles, etc. CB Performance has a whole bunch of beef up stuff and Prowlers makes a tube beefup kit for the trailing arms(recommended.) Also its a good idea to put urethane bushings in the trailing arms and the trans mounts(a trans strap also.) Rear coilover shocks are a good inexpensive idea. Get a copy of HotVWs mag for parts info.

I've got an old VW mag. from the 70s where they put an early rotary in a VW and the whole thing fits under the hood. The hardest part(and believe me it was all hard), was the exhaust, as there is almost no room for it. I've got 3" stainless with a racingbeat turbo premuffler and a supertrapp 3" in, 5" out muffler, and it really sound good. Let me know if you need any more info. 20b might stick out maybe, what a sight it would be with hump on the back. You think a litle buggy can take that much from a 20b? :twisted:

Your car looks awesome.I think I might stick with my 7 or get a RWD Mazda GLC hatchback though.I didn't think the swap would be that big of a project or that costly.I've seen them done before with 350ci V8's and stuff but never a rotary up here.I see why now.Ouch, that would break my bank book. NO wieght advantage either,The first gens wiegh 2300-2400 and my old 71 beetle wieghed 2600 stock.My 7 is still lighter :bigthumg:

I've got a baja that already has beefed up horns and trans mounts. It's got a bus trans and IRS with white CVs. I think the white ones are from a Porsche or are simply powder coated. I honestly have no idea. Anyway, It's also got a pushbar that is large enough to hold an REPU radiator so I think that's what I'm going to use. The rad will be in the back so I won't need to run cooling lines to the front. Oh, it also has urethane IRS bushings, as somebody above mentioned they have.



I'm thinking all I need is an engine, adaptor kit, exhaust parts to be welded together, radiator mounts and lines, oil cooler and lines, uh, I think that's it!
