They do it for Porsches and bugs.. and a few other cars.. I think maybe getting the adapter for the tranny would be the biggest issue, maybe Kennedy engineering can make one..
true, they do it for bugs. so there must be a tranny out there

woah, you guys are making this WAY too dificult.

If you know how to fab stuff (and adapter plates are pretty easy) then a transmission is NOT an issue at all. As long as the MR2 transmission can withstand the revs/power (and I'm reasonably certain that they can), it won't be a problem at all.

If you don't know how to fab stuff, well.. and adapter plate should set you back around $150 from your local custom speed shop.

a Good, fresh, ported n/a rotary will make 200HP easily. No need to limit yourself to 150, the MR2SC makes 140 stock and it's pretty easy to get more, so why bother with a rotary at all if you're not making at least half decent power from it.

And a 914 will NOT outhandle an MR2. I'm sorry, but a 30 year old base porsche that was always criticized for having crappy handling, with tires in the 145-width range stock will NOT handle a 15 year old nissan sportscar. Yes, they're light. Yes, they're cool. But do they handle, as far as modern standards go? no, they do not.

they can be made to handle, but stock, they're not exactly amazing.
