I know that people have done RE swaps into these cars, but I've never seen any documentation. Does anyone here know of any swaps or have done it themselves? I'm inheriting a 67.5 roadster and would love to RE it.

It used to be common to put a rotary in the roadster. The were termed "Madsuns". Check the width of the RE with turbo and make sure it will fit. Use the Mazda tranny and a custom driveshaft and it should be easy. I have read about this swap but never actually seen any pics. Most of the conversions are too old to have digital pics. Perhaps there are some polaroids floating around.

I can't respond to your inquiry directly, but did you see the three part item in Grassroots Motorsports about transplanting a Miata engine into a MGB? It's a different example, but the principles are the same. It might get you started. That's where I started to map out my REnesis to FC project.

You gotta open up the tranny tunnel a bit on the passenger side to fit the mazda tranny.

Gotta make custom mounts, no kits.

Good luck. But it's been done before.
