Unhappy

i just did swap in my 87 turbo II. i replaced it with j-spec engine. i got it started but it runs very rough.i think it is running on one rotor. compression is good. i dont think that rear rotor is getting fuel. (this was original problem with my old motor) > after i get it hot it is very hard to get it started again. plugs get soaked with fuel( only front rotor though-rear rotor plugs are ok). also it revs really slow and when it gets to higher rpm starts to pop. it runs rich too. cant run it in garage thats how bad it is. i'm stuck guys i dont know where to turn anymore. i dont know if is any selenoids/sensors to cut the fuel to the rear rotor or what. anyone have any ideas please let me know.

thank you very much

(i removed the air pump and pluged the acv.

all the vacum lines are pluged in and i gotta block-off plate for acv)

What other mods are done?Sounds like it might be fuel cut.If the rear plugs are good then I'm not too sure then.Fuel cut cuts off the rear rotor which means the plugs should show the mixture leaned out.Glad to hear it runs tho.You should make a thread in the 2nd gen forum as well. They can really help you there too.

If I can remember right anything above 100 on all 3 sides of each rotor is good. Why?Is you think it might be from low compression? The guys in the FC forum might be right about the injector harness.

well, when i was looking for a problem in injectors i decided to check compression also. front rotor reads 85 on each puff and rear 90psi on each puff.

first rotor was soaked with fuel too so i lost some compression there and the rear rotor is just dry. repair manual said to check compression when vehichle is at normal operating temprature and under normal operating circumstances. well nothing is normal with this car so i dont know any more ................ when i spray some carb clean into the vacum hose that leads to rear rotor intake chamber it seems ro run just fine.

did u ever hear anything about fuel injectors/fuel pump resistor.

all power that goes to injectors needs to pass through resistor.

so maybe that might be one of my problems.....

thanks again Luis and if you hear anything new let me know

Sounds like your compression is good.Yeah J9FD3S told me my driveline is prolly the low impedance early 87 model.I don't mind that tho.I have some 720cc injectors off the 85 SE engine in my 83 carbed that will find a home in thier. Have you adjusted your TPS sensor?

hello Luis -- good news--SHE RUNS--runs good. it was a fuel pump/injectors resistor. the thing was fried. i got some other little problems though. now my idle would not come down from 1300rpm . also when it worms up it wouldn't start. i had an extra air temp sensor and i replaced it and now after 5or 6 attempts it will start. little better, but still it would not start right away. any ideas?????

also, how can i increase boost without spending a lot of money????

i just wanna thank you and all the guys in here, i gain a lot of help from you.

A good way to increase boost is to get a dp made up.3" is best for you car.The put a 3" exhaust on it then the turbo will hit the fuel cut very easily. You will need a FCD(Fuel cut defencer) by then.Racing Beat sells the FCD on thier site for $91 which makes you stock boost guage useless. The FCD tricks the computer into thinking its still at stock boost when its not.If you hit 10psi on stock injectors you'll need bigger injectors and a piggy back fuel controller to support more boost. Is yours the Early 87 model injection? If so then you could use some 84-85 SE stock inectors. They are 680s which are a good size bigger than the 550s you have.Just put the SE's in the secondary rail.Anything past 10psi requires more fuel.A downpipe and exhaust should spike the boost to around 8 or 9 psi.So you need the FCD for sure and if you want more then you need to upgrade your secondary injectors and get a fuel controller like a S-AFC to feed as much fuel as possible.Hope this helps
