What year is the lincoln?

the Lincoln's where not full power Mustang HO V8's

Should still be around 180+hp and about 270-290ft lbs of torque stock. If it is an HO it should be around 225hp 277ftlbs of torque. Dont see why not to do the swap. In my idea it would be the best of both worlds! the Sweet RX7 body style and the power and simplicity of a readily available V8. Plus the uniquness it gives the car.

Why not put 2 cars that dont run well into 1 car that would be pretty damn quick? I say go for it. This may be nopistons.com but this is still an RX7 site. Rotary's are cool motors and I like them. But the fact is the last time I looked a 302 (5.0 actually a 4.9) is a lot cheaper to rebuild and service. Could be a fun and very fast project as it is not hard to squeeze a fair amount of power out of the EFI 86-95 HO 302 motors. Hell on my car alone right now I have about 15-20hp being held up by the cooling fan and the rather lengthy and constrictive intake for the motor which I will probably remove sooner or later and replace with a CAI.

Plus remember my car is a bone stock GT convertible fully loaded and is capable of running low 14's stock... in a HEAVY car. Plus if I pulled up to a stoplight and an older RX revved at me and sounded like a V8 I think I would be prepared to either get my butt kicked or be in for a very good race!

Hey guys dont dog him because of what he wants to do. you dogged me some but he is still an RX fan so show him some support. Go for it man!

oh and a thought I have been thinking some about is this.

an 86 or whatever body and use a 3.4 Yamaha developed Ford V8 with a 5 speed. Very unique V8 with a high rev capability. Also 235hp stock and a pretty light and compact V8. It is only a 60 degree V8 instead of the industry standard 90 degree!!

And by the way it is an '88 lincoln- and by the time I'm through rebuilding it, it sure as hell won't be stock and its going to take forever as far as I could tell. I can't wait until I get my tax return- I'll actually be able to get some big stuff, probably heads, Edelbrock maybe?

The V8 is going to add about 250 lbs to the nose of your car, plus raise the center of gravity. IE: totally change the way your car handles. Your front brakes probably won't be up for it either.

Strap a fat chick to your hood and go for a ride. Then decide if you want to complete the swap...

Personally I'd just find a ragged Turbo-II doner car and stuff that motor in there.

BTW. The Ford/Yamaha 24v/V6 motor mentioned in someones post (if this is from the SHO Tarus is one hell of a motor (and light)... Problem is it never had a 5 speed bolted to it and uses some odd ball bellhousing. I believe the Aerostar/Ranger trans will fit to it, but can't handle it's power.

true the motor never came with a 5 spd. But it is a good motor and can be easily modified for power seen a few of them around my area... one running mid 13's!! I know a machinist that can do bellhousings. He made one for one of his cars. He used a Liberty 5 speed (not jeep liberty) and bolted it up to a GM 502 crate motor... lol in an 1800 pound car!!!!

oh and on the heads....

Edelbrock are good but look into Cannfield or TFS heads.
