All im gonna say is, your gonna swap in a v8, because you dont want to figure out whats wrong with the engine currently in the car? What happens when the v8 has a problem, swap in another motor?

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr sorry for taht, but everytime i post something about swapping in a diff engine, people jump on me...i mean this is the engine swap section, people need to not read what doesn't interest them hey Rob x-7 thanks for stucking up for the people that want a diff motor in their 7.....and to the guy about the jap engines that rev high....i would take a 6000 or 6500(not sure on a LT1 or LS1) redline any day of my 7s 8000, because it has almost triple th torque and double the hp...and with what 1500-2000 lost in RPMs...not a big deal when i chirp em goin into 4th and 5th
It's cool, i guess you do what you have to do. I mean we're still here for the same reason, to go faster and eat some rice

and i agree with you, i wouldn't mind trading in a high revving engine for a large amount of torque.

well, yeah, i want to put in a v-8 not because i don't know what is rong with my car, i want to do it because the reliablity(or what i have seen so far) does not exist with a rotary engine. not to mention, i know a lot about v-8s, like i've said before i had a f-body for my first car, did all my work my self. I don't want to do this because i don't know what is wrong with my car, i want to do it because it will make my car really fast. and to the guy abou the cost, i realize it isn't cheap, but a place makes a kit for all the stuff that needs to be fabed up, and the reason y the 3rd gen sold for 20gs is bcause it is a more valued car...also if u could tell me what is wrong with the car, i'd greatly appreciate that..cause it runs hot, but i've changed the rad, rad cap, water pump, all belts....so do u have any suggestions ?

Thermostat have you changed that?? Hopefully that was the first thing you changed.

When you change it drill a 1/8" hole in the thermostat it will help evacuate any trapped air in your system. Let the car run with the radiator cap off and keep topping it off until its at operating tempurature and full.

When air gets trapped behind the thermostat it will stay closed even when it need to be open. Its sort of like a vapor lock.

Hope that helps.

Thess Rotary engines intimidated me at first too. Once you start working on them you start realizing how simple they are. I look under the hood of my new Mini Cooper S and just scratch my head. I am glad it came with a 3 year service agreement.

Yes an LS1/6 will fit in an FC and an FD. I have personlly done the FD swap ALL BY MYSELF and it honestly isnt that bad. It take s time and some patience but not real difficult.

I took a FD that was ready for the junk yard with no engine or tranny and made a great car out of it. Now I get 28 mpg when I keep my foot out of it and have a reliable 300+ rwhp and 350ftlbs of torque. I loved my FD when it was rotary but dont kill this guy because he wants to try it.

Two really good sites for info on the swap are

www.torquecentral.com which is a forum where a bunch of swaps are talked about and

www.hinsonsupercars.com which is the site of the guy that did the first LS1 FD swap that I know of.
