I think you need an adapter on the engine stand for the rotary. Pineapple Racing sells one.

I couldn't get one in time, so I just worked on the engine on the ground. Some people put it on crates.

As for the hoist, I rented one from Ace Hardware. They're all pretty much the same. You can find some nice ones that fold up and stuff.

Try www.harborfreight.com

I think they sell both the hoist and engine stand.

My hoist is the most bare bone manual pump one you can get and it worked just fine. This was for an sr20 into a 240sx during the summer. Something I found very useful was a leveler to adjust the "angle of attach." This was only because I removed and installed the engine and transmission together which is the easy way if you have to do both anyway.

I got the engine stand from harbor frieght. You don't need the plate from Pineapple racing. I mounted mine up to the plate that came with the stand.

The stand cost me about $50.

I have a pretty smooth engine stand. It has a handle with internal gears that allow me to swing the engine around by just simply turning the handle 360 degrees. I didn't need to adapters either. Just bolted right up to the plate.

questions...

can you provide manufacturer info ?

seems like you have to provide additional support for it from the pic...

precautionary measures on your part? or are they not rated for the weight

bolts to the front housing correct....did u use hardened bolts ?

banzaitoyota 12-23-2002 09:21 AM

I use bothe types of mounting. I have a pineapple plate and I bolt them directly to the head. The pineapple plate allow installation of th CAS and access to that area of the engine for detailing / painting. Is it neccasary? NO, Is it nice to have? Hell Yes!!!!!
