Let me add that i got car with boxes of parts & 3 pages of instructions on converting to 89 intake. My question is there any advantage to using the 89 manifold or will the 88 work fine on a s5 motor.

advantages are better airflow so higher HP potential. To make it easy you should put the s4 TB on the s5 intake manifold and I think there are some other electronics and some wiring that will need to be done also.

RotaryRessurection has a writeup on his site I believe.

the s5 manifold is better cause the vdi catches the rotary engine natural supercharging effect. so it has better power potential. what exact info do you want if you want to know how to make an s5 engine in an s4 work then ask me cause i"ve done it. Just send me a pm and i can walk you through it all but you will need to buy an rpm activated switch thats all you need that you can get at napa. to make vdi work. But if you need help i'm your guy. Good luck
