That's a $100,000 motor.

They had some 1 piece ceramic seals for it...$300 a piece.

4RotorRocket 10-06-2003 08:31 PM

Damn I want those engines!

mazdadrifter 10-06-2003 09:14 PM

I just want to hump one for a couple minutes, I'll givem 20 bucks to let me do my business on it

9Second7 10-06-2003 09:22 PM

Those engines are sick, How much Hp they put out??

Imagine it with turbooos

mazdadrifter 10-06-2003 09:46 PM

700 was the round figure for n/a. Turbo?... how much more do you need, sick bastard!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 10-06-2003 10:11 PM

seriously, i would commit suicide to get this engine... hmmmmm... wonder if i can take it to me to hell?

aren't they peripheral ported n/a?

FikseRxSeven 10-06-2003 10:15 PM

very nice.... i wish my fd had one of those

Dramon_Killer 10-06-2003 10:22 PM

I bet that would make a 4 rotor rocket.

If you look at the rear shot of the car...you can see the intake holes, they can only be (something like) 46mm, and after the race if a judge or someone puts there hand over those holes and the engine doesn't stall, the car gets DQ'd.

that would be they are "sneaking" air in from somewhere else...

peripheral ported??? you can see a pic of the intake, don't think that classifies as peripheral...

They are peripheral ported. The intake and exhaust ports are both in the periphery of the rotor housings.

DUB 10-07-2003 03:53 PM

thanks for clearing that up...

$3,600 is surprisingly cheap for seals in an engine that is worth $100,000

I dont think there 100k. I mean, a 2 rotor is like 4k, a 3 rotor= 6k, I mean how much more can 1 extra rotor cost? 100k maybe what mazda claims its worth, but thats probably the engine that they put in ther sponsered car(or whatever you want to call it). I dont see a 100k . Just like someone posted above. 3600 is cheap for seals in $100k motor. It cant be.

Eric Happy Meal 10-19-2003 12:42 AM

yeah 100K seems pretty damn steep to me. and if the intake holes can only be 46mm and have to cause the engine to stall when its done, are the air ducts in the front for cooling of it all? seems like some pretty huge holes for only cooling.

3rd is called 'Late trailing' plug. Apparently decreases fuel consumption.

LeMans Index Of Thermal Efficiency takes fuel use into account

4 real.....it should cost 10k

I know the part # of those seals, now off to the local mazda dealer!

I'm no expert or even a good listener...I just relaying what I heard on the tour of Downings ATL...

when they started racing these motors that what they said it cost...top of the line and custom made everything on the motor, not just the rotor housings and the rotors. I know I remember hearing the E-shaft is one tricky motha on these motors...

to get a 4-rotor putting out the most power with ALL the restrictions they have in these races...I doubt it can be accomplished with 10 grand https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

DUB 10-22-2003 02:35 PM

Yes those BIG ass ducts in the front are for cooling and I would guess down force???

you can see the air intake ports right behind the drivers head (two little silver holes - 2 on each side)

9Second7 10-22-2003 02:42 PM

I know this is off topic, But in the Lemans GT class, You know the class with the touring cars such as Bmw M3, Porsche 911's, 360 Modenas, etc.

Im just curious if all those cars are N/A. If so what type of power do they put out?
